What You'll Do

You will be responsible for managing and leading a team who will collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, deployment and application solution teams in order to design, test and deliver platform infrastructure for end to end video solutions in AWS and our on-premises environments; as well as working with Platform Squad leadership to correctly prioritise deliverables. In addition to team management tasks you’ll be responsible for key management tasks within the Platform Squad driven by Platform Squad leadership. Your team will help support scale and chaos testing as well as war games to improve solution reliability, robustness and get feedback to improve the quality of Platform Squad deliverables during deployment, upgrades, and operations for the solutions.

Who You'll Work With

As an SPVSS Platform Squad - Manager, you’ll work with individuals in the Boxborough office and remotely across a geographically distributed set of teams in order to implement deployment automation and operational processes for the video software development teams.

Who You Are

You have 3-5+ years in managing a software engineering team and implementing a full SDLC. You have hands on expertise in a scripting language (Bash/Python/etc.) as well as 5+ years Linux command line expertise. You have experience in leading the design, automation and enhancement of software cloud deployments as well as experience supporting Cloud Infrastructure – AWS preferred. You will have hands on experience using cloud automation tools – Ansible preferred. You have created containers, as well as deploying and using container orchestration platforms – Docker and Kubernetes. You have experience with logging, monitoring and alerting solutions such as ELK, Prometheus, Sensu, Grafana.

Our minimum requirements for this role:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Previous team management experience and a proven ability to collaborate with geographically distributed teams

  • Experience leading the design and implementation of software deployments in the cloud, supporting and/or troubleshooting aaS, cloud based products

  • Experience of implementing and improving good software development practice

Video experience in one or more of the following areas a plus, but not required

  • Video On Demand workflows

  • Video Back office functionality including resource management and billing

  • Content Management
