What You’ll Do
You’ll help us streamline the reliable delivery of cloud based video distribution solutions to Service Providers serving millions of subscribers world-wide. The Cisco Environments team needs an experienced technical leader to help define and develop the processes, test frameworks and tests to validate and report on product health, functionality and operability in our Customer Zero end to end test environments. As the in-house customer, we have a unique opportunity to positively impact the quality of the solutions and services we deploy.
Who You’ll Work With
Our geographically distributed team of senior level Quality Engineers works closely with our Platform and Product Development, and Deployment teams to deploy and operate a continuously tested customer-like environment. The team’s mission is to quantitatively evaluate all aspects of our software’s deployment and operation experience, and work with our stakeholders to drive improvements in quality, processes and operations costs.
Who You Are
You have solid experience as a Software Engineer or Software Engineer in Test, and in developing automated tests. You are comfortable in the cloud and on prem. You are excited at the prospect of joining a new group and helping create the processes and tooling that enable the group to provide value in the deployment pipeline. You are a strong communicator who can evangelize the group’s customer-centric focus.
Our minimum requirements for this role:
3-5+ years in software development / automated test development positions
3+ years developing and using tests driven by an automated test framework
Expertise in a scripting language (Bash/Python/etc. we use Python), Perl or Ruby
5+ years Linux/Unix command line expertise
Experience with Cloud Infrastructure – AWS preferred
1+ years experience with logging, monitoring and alerting solutions such as ELK, Prometheus, Sensu, Grafana
Excellent communication skills
Experience with containers and container orchestration – Docker and Kubernetes preferred
Ability to collaborate closely with geographically distributed teams
Experience deploying, operating and/or troubleshooting aaS, cloud based products
Experience with Simian Army tools
Video experience in one or more of the following areas a plus, but not required
Video On Demand workflows
Video Back office functionality including resource management and billing
