What You'll Do

As the RF Engineer supporting a major Southern California Power Utility, you will be responsible for building RF models and designing, implementing and enabling 900MHz Wireless mesh networks. In addition, the RF Engineer will resolve system performance issues such as radio interference, inadequate RF coverage, poor digital link quality, improper site implementation or compliance with regulatory standards as well as develop part lists and prepare daily status reports.

Who You'll Work With

The RF Engineer will work closely with the Service Integration Architect and Network Consulting Engineer at multiple sites throughout Southern California.

Who You Are

  • You have a deep understanding of 900MHz wireless mesh networks, RF modeling, RF component characteristics and behavior, and RF Standards with focus on Layer 1 parameters.

  • You have experience maintaining radio equipment, placing antennas, testing electronic components

  • You have experience investigating, troubleshooting, and fixing performance drops.

  • You have experience with LTE, microwave, 900MHz radios and antennas

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSEE or related field degrees. Advanced degrees strongly preferred.

  • 8+ years experience with mesh wireless networks, RF modeling, and Layer 1 parameters

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills

  • Fast learner, motivated self-starter

  • Problem solving and attention to details

Desired Skills

The UIE has demonstrated expertise with mesh networks, RF modeling, radios, and antennas.

Experience/Skills: The following skillsets are desired of this candidate:

  • Designing, implementing and enabling 900MHz Wireless mesh networks

  • Building RF models

  • RF Standards with focus on Layer 1 parameters

  • 900MHz radios and antennas

  • Working knowledge of both WAN and Wireless design/debug

  • Strong capability to debug critical issues, willing to drive through the bottom of key issues
