What You'll Do?

As a Big Data Engineer of the Portals and Data Analytics Engineering team, you will have a unique opportunity to use your creativity in cloud infrastructure to develop our new Spark Data Platform and Big Data analytics applications being utilized to perform real-time operational analytics for our WebEx data center infrastructure.

We are seeking a talented, self-motivated, and highly creative software engineer to join our team to develop new big data platform project.

  • Work with engineering team to assist with the development of our large-scale WebEx Spark Data Platform and real-time streaming analytics including date pipelines using Java, Kafka, Scala, Apache Spark, and HadoopWork on our large-scale data platform, build, manage or monitor them.

  • Works closly with global team on engagements by estimating the complexity and duration of technical tasks; and providing business value justification and risk evaluation

Who You Are?

You are passionate about Big Data and eager to learn new technologies including machine learning. You possess good core Java distributed development experience with strong understanding/troubleshooting of algorithms.

  • A Bachelors Degree in CS/BS/EE plus 2 years experience or MS Degree with 1 year of distributed application development experience preferably in Java.

  • A minimum of 1-2 years hands-on experience developing and integrating Big Data applications with strong expertise in Java programming, Scala, Spark, Kafka and/or other Big Data eco components

  • Strong understanding of data structures

  • Data analytics – Previous work experience or project work developing Big Data analytics applications desired

  • Hadoop - Previous work experience with Hadoop ecosystem components such has Hive, Hbase, Pig, Squoop or Pig would be a plus

  • Experience with Kafka or Scala highly desired

  • Experience with Apache Spark streaming is big plus

  • Flexible, Self-motivated, problem solver who can work both individually as well as an effective Team player with excellent attention to detail and great interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)
