Job purpose

This position will part of a team responsible for:

Problem resolution for components on BroadWorks - Cisco’s flagship network communications platform

Problem investigation and ultimately design, development, and testing of patch solutions.

Working on the Call Processing part of the software using SIP protocol.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with TAC during problem investigation.

  • Strong debugging skills

  • Providing support for emergency call out.

  • Producing software solutions to problems.

  • Interpreting requirements into product design

  • Unit Testing implemented patch code

  • Supporting existing code base

  • Will interface with other members of TAC, Tier3 and the development team.

  • Other duties as required


  • Bachelor’s degree in CS or EE or equivalent

  • Good knowledge of Java

  • Good knowledge of scripting (perl, sh)

  • Database experience (SQL)

  • Strong communication skills

  • Practical experience with unix operating system.

  • Willingness and ability to stay flexible regarding assignments.

  • Quick learner, with a willingness to dive in and learn everything required to be successful on the job.

At least one of the preferred qualifications below:

  • Practical development experience with JAVA and Web Technologies

  • Exposure to some of the following preferred: Linux, Apache, Tomcat

  • Practical experience debugging complex technical issues
