Job Scope

Program Manager of Planning and Operations for the Global Certifications organization providing support to develop, design, and execute strategies for building and maintaining a successful certification program. Areas of practice include certification business development and strategies for growth and developing new opportunities, forecasting and trends, exam content development and delivery planning and operations, technology roadmap for application systems and platforms, production of all assessment products, customer communications, delivery channel management, product and process quality control, compliance with ISO and ANSI standards, and vendor/partner management. The program manager will serve in a strategic role supporting leadership team to develop and execute organizational strategy, goals, metrics, and ensure that innovations aligned with the overall company strategy.


  • Implement operational efficiencies to enable portfolio growth and guide program direction

  • Provide analytical and technical support in development of business strategy and growth planning

  • Strategic support with development of forecast and monitoring/reporting business trends including monthly, quarterly and yearly analysis based on state of the business

  • Contribute towards management level resource planning and strategy meetings

  • Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors for exam content design, development, delivery, psychometrics, scoring, quality assurance, social media promotions and other related services

  • Forge strong partnerships with external organizations, and collaborate with them to make strategic investments to support the Cisco certification programs

  • Serve as an active member on the Certification Body, the governing board of the Global Certifications organization that manages program governance, policies and operations.

  • Lead the team’s acquisition of systems and tools, and drive technology roadmap to support core functions and innovations

  • Ensure clear and consistent customer communications and increase presence through relevant social media messaging and promotions

  • Provide support for content sourcing strategy, identify and recruit vendors and manage relationships for external exam content development to build content inventory

  • Track deliverables, manage resources and timelines to ensure product launch dates are met

  • Drive standardized and scalable processes throughout product lifecycle

Skills / Education

  • Post-graduate degree in relevant disciplines or equivalent experience

  • Over 10 years experience in the testing industry, preferably in IT certifications

  • Experience with testing as a business, assessment theory, and performance based assessments

  • Strong knowledge of industry standards in assessments and certifications

  • Self-starter, team player, innovative thinker, and have ability to exercise broad independent judgment

  • Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels with Cisco employees, partners, vendors and customers

  • Project management, program management, negotiation, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
