What You'll Do

Design and build innovative solutions for threat detection, security intelligence automation and incident management, as part of a world class team working on the cutting edge of information security. Shape new capabilities to transform and support the team mission of rapidly detecting and responding to security threats, and in providing actionable and insightful risk and threat information to senior management.

Who You'll Work With

CSIRT is the Incident Detection & Response branch of Cisco’s Security and Trust Organization (S&TO). We provide Cisco with security monitoring, digital investigation, and forensic services to guard against attacks and intellectual asset loss. Our mission is to protect the company, systems, and data by performing comprehensive investigations into computer security incidents, and to help prevent such incidents through proactive threat assessment, mitigation planning, incident trend analysis, and security architecture review.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment with a “take-charge” / “can-do” attitude and is able to demonstrate flexibility and resiliency. Successful candidate must be self-sufficient and be able to work with minimal supervision. Work with geographically distributed teams across different time zones. A strong backend developer who works on metadata driven products and end-to-end applications engineering.

Our minimum requirements for this role:

  • Architect, design and build high performance, scalable, complex and distributed systems – end to end

  • Work with a highly skilled software development team, bringing your skills, innovations and leadership to development innovative solutions to security problems

  • Bring technical solutions to the leadership team, feedback on solutions recommended, new product ideas with the team through design review, pair programming, code review and tech talk

  • Develop automated solutions, demonstrating measurable gains in business efficiency and effectiveness

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in CS/EE or equivalent and 5-7 years of object-oriented software development experience OR MS Degree with 3-5 years of software development and data management experience

  • Relational database modeling and design including Oracle and MySQL; In-depth knowledge of large scale data systems; experience with NoSQL databases

  • Extensive experience with Python, Java, HTML/CSS/JS,

  • nix /Bash

  • Experience leading software development teams, using Agile development methodologies and innovative toolsets

  • Knowledge of Application/Platform/Cloud (AWS) security best practices and implementation

  • Experience with Linux/UNIX systems and the best practices for deploying applications to those stacks

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Data analytics, transformation, NoSQL, Parallel computing

  • Experience with Apache Spark, Kafka, Scala, Hive, HBase

  • Data visualization – ability to transform data into intelligence

  • Experience in API Gateways, REST based services (server and client side)

  • Cloud and Development / build tools: AWS/Azure, SBT/Maven, GIT
