As a wireless feature engineer, you will be responsible for architecting and implementing features that improve the reliability, simplicity, and performance of our wireless products. You will have the opportunity to work across our stack developing software that spans from device drivers and routing code all the way up to our distributed, cloud-hosted backend. Example projects for a Wireless Features Engineer:

  • Designing an algorithm that collects data from access points in customer networks and uses that data to optimize their channel and power settings.

  • Integrating drivers to allow dedicated crypto hardware offload for VPN authentication and encryption.

  • Implementing 802.11r “fast roaming” to improve client roaming experience and minimize overhead.

  • Enabling 802.1x authentication using Google authentication.

  • Adapting our wireless mesh protocol to use packet aggregation to achieve higher throughput.

You are an ideal candidate if you:

  • Are fluent in C or C++ Have 2-5 years of experience writing professional production code

  • Have working knowledge of core network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ARP)

  • Experience working with and writing concurrent programs

  • Understanding of OS fundamentals and experience working in both kernel space and user space

  • Have effective communication skills and a strong ability to collaborate with others

  • Are self-motivated and willing to learn new things and take on new challenges

Bonus points for:

  • Experience building cloud-based infrastructure and services (e.g. web applications)

  • Scripting skills in Ruby or Python

  • Understanding of wireless protocols and network security fundamentals

  • Experience working with version control, specifically Git
