What You'll Do

You will be part of the Global Lease Accounting Team in San Jose, CA and will be the first member of the team! Your role will first be focusing on implementing a system, processes and accounting requirements under ASC 840, ASC 842 and IFRS 16. Once the new lease standards go-live, you will be responsible for maintaining the accounting processes, procedures and system to ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS and company policy under the new lease standards. You will collaborate with various Cisco operational and Finance teams to help support business decisions and develop relationships across the business to be a trusted resource for lease information.


  • You will assist in the development and implementation of the system, accounting processes and procedures for transition to new lease standards ASC 842 and IFRS 16.

  • You’ll ensure lease assets and liabilities are properly classified, analyzed, calculated and reported in financial statements according to the ASC840, ASC 842 and IFRS 16 for reporting, presentation, and disclosure requirements.

  • You will review supplier and/or service agreements to identify lease/ embedded leases.

  • You’ll manage accounting components of the lease portfolio, such as extensions, amendments, or terminations, through lease system.

  • You will implement internal controls to achieve administrative and operational efficiencies, compliance with laws and regulations, safeguard of assets and accurate financial reporting.

The Corporate Controller Group (CCG) is comprised of several groups that are committed to supporting business processes through developing, influencing and implementing global financial policy and process and effective partnering.

More specifically, the Global Close & Reporting group (GAR) supports virtual close, earning release and SEC filing with a high level of integrity and credibility through partnering with functional groups across the Company.

Our team works with various operations, finance and accounting teams to review lease data, participate in financial statement reviews, completion of month end close, account reconciliation and SOX or Internal Control matters.

You constantly search for more effective approaches to get better at what we do. You will do well in this role if you love analytics, have a deep understanding of accounting to manage complex arrangements, and strong communication skills.

The minimum requirements for this role are:

  • You hold a Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Finance, with 5+ years of experience in Finance or Accounting / 3+ years of experience in Public Accounting. CPA/CA is a plus.

  • You understand existing lease accounting standard ASC 840. New lease accounting standard ASC 842 is a plus.

  • You bring excellent communication and analytical skills.

  • You have a proven ability to work in cross-functional, fast-pacedenvironment and lead complex initiatives

  • You have advancedskills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPointandWord.
