What You'll Do
The Mechanical Product Engineer provides new product introduction and on-going engineering support for a specific family of products from early conceptual designs through end of life.
New Product Introduction responsibilities (NPI) involving influence and actions related to optimizing Cost, Quality and Delivery of the products throughout the supply chain and customer environment. Design for X (DfX) is a primary focus area involving design for manufacturability, assembly, automation, test, cost, quality, supply chain and customer-use within the new product development process.
In addition, you will provide Sustaining product engineering support to drive Value Engineering while also providing product technical expertise to support action and issue resolution during the entire product lifecycle.
Who You’ll Work With
The Mechanical Product Engineer is a key member of the Product Operations team within the Supply Chain organization. Product Engineering partners closely with the Development organization including the Mechanical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Regulatory Compliance and Safety, Program Management, GSM, Technology & Quality and other partners within the Supply Chain Organization. In addition, you will work directly with our Contract Manufacturing partners located throughout the globe to launch and deliver Cisco products.
Who You Are
The Mechanical Product Engineer role is a technical role with a strong focus on business operations required to enable the best customer experience for Cisco products and services while driving Cisco’s performance expectations for Cost, Quality and Delivery.
For this role, the qualified candidate should have a minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of hands-on experience and understanding of the electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
Some key skills and competencies required for the role are knowledge of the commodities used for the electro-mechanical systems, working knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems used for network equipment, knowledge and experience with DfX, proficiency in the use of Design Tools (MCAD) and the ability to work effectively in a diverse and cross-functional team environment. The Mechanical Engineer must possess strong communication and influence skills while working in a very collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
