Cisco’s Cable Business Unit is working on a next generation cloud native cable modem termination system (CMTS). This team is responsible for the architecture, design and development of this next gen cloud CMTS product. This next generation product is built on open source based cloud native architecture (Microservices, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Cassandra, etc) and will run on any generic server h/w platform running Linux Host OS. The team is responsible for end-to-end software components spanning cloud native infrastructure, orchestration, Automation, Telemetry, Health monitoring, DOCSIS control and data plane, etc.
We are looking for a talented and passionate software engineer to become part of our dynamic development team. Participate in the design, and development of cloud based CMTS and/or Cable automation and orchestration product
Work in the team using agile methodologies
Support planning and work estimate activities
Communicate status against planned milestones
The successful applicant must have a proven track record of designing and developing high quality software products and should possess the following particular skills and experience:
5+ years of in-depth, hands-on experience with cloud native development
5+ years of Java, C, or GO language programming
Good understanding of database technologies
Good understanding of data modeling technologies
Experience developing reusable components
Bachelors degree in CS/CE/EE is required. MS preferred.
Some of the following software skills are preferable:
Knowledge of Micro services Architecture, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Cassandra, ELK, Redis, Fluentd, ETCD
Exposure to technologies such as JSON, DWR, XML, XSD, XPath, XQuery, Drools
Working knowledge of SNMP, Telnet, SSH, SOAP, HTTP , XML, UML, NETCONF
Exposure to test tools such as, JUnit, JTest, SOATest, SOAPUI
Working experience in Linux kernel OS
Network management and protocols
A huge plus for any prior experience in CMTS/Cable Modem embedded system development and DOCSIS protocols.
Apart from this, the following generic attributes are desirable in the candidate:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proactive attitude in identifying and resolving issues and risks
Able to quickly adapt and adjust to changing requirements
Versatile and showing willingness to take on both front-end/UI as well as back-end related work when needed.
