What You'll Do

The Component Quality & Technology group within the Supply Chain Organization at Cisco is looking for a Sr Manager with extensive experience and deep understanding in power delivery component and systems. This person will lead a global team of 11-13 component engineers that manage the power supplies (front end and board mount including discrete solutions) and the mixed signals commodities including power controllers and regulators.

As a component engineering manager, you are expected to develop and augment the team’s capability as we keep tabs on new technologies, market trends, and business unit needs, and to continue to promote teamwork in a dynamic environment coordinating efforts to solve design problems or supplier excursions and develop inventive products. You also need to maintain strong working relationships with different stakeholders. You will need to employ excellent communication skills to work cross functionally with hardware engineering, supply chain organization, and commodity suppliers when sourcing for all power delivery devices. You will be supporting engineering’s development of holistic power delivery solutions in alignment with the commodity strategy set by the supplier management and component engineering teams. You will need to deal with unexpected challenges in a professional manner.

Who You'll Work With

  • Your team members: Develop and grow an excellent technical component engineering team. Achieve and maintain good working relationships with direct reports, provide mentoring and hold regular performance reviews for all direct reports.

  • Business units as your partners and customers: Influence the power system architecture roadmap and navigate the trade-offs between performance, quality, time to market, and cost to enable scaling Cisco’s hardware engineering roadmap. Participate in the high-level architecture and design of electronic systems as required. Manage component Failure Analysis activities during development and production.

  • Suppliers of the commodity space you are managing: Influence and monitor power and mixed signal suppliers ongoing development methodologies and processes in regards to performance assessment in line with supplier specifications and component long term reliability, in addition to ongoing assessment of supplier quality management systems capabilities including managing supplier component Failure Analysis activities.

  • You will also engage and partner with the extended Supply Chain organization functions including Global Supply Management, Product Operations and Global Manufacturing Organization.

Who You Are

Education and/or experience: Bachelor Degree or higher in electrical engineering and 15+ years of electronics experience in power and mixed signal (analog and digital) designs is required.

You also have:

  • Ability to handle complex, multi-task environments and successfully lead technical component engineering team.

  • Deep understanding of electrical engineering principles in both analog and digital domains with electronics design experience in high-speed mixed signal circuit design. Ability to use this understanding to support team as needed.

  • Knowledge of the development process and experience in developing and implementing processes.

  • Knowledge of supplier manufacturing process and controls, test and detection.

  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong organization, supervisory, managerial and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated technical leadership and facilitation skills.

  • Strong communication and strong interpersonal skills.

  • To be willing to travel (internationally and domestically) to visit suppliers and business units.
