About OpenDNS, now part of Cisco: OpenDNS is a leading provider of network security and DNS services, enabling the world to connect to the Internet with confidence on any device, anywhere, anytime.

Our approach is twofold; first Umbrella, our cloud-delivered network security service, blocks advanced attacks including malware, botnets, and phishing threats, while our predictive intelligence engine uses machine learning to automate protection against newly-discovered threats before they can reach our customers. Today, we handle more than 80 billion daily Internet requests from 65 million+ users around the world. Our global network has proven reliability and adds no latency. We protect each and every one of our customers' devices globally without any hardware to install or software to maintain.

Cisco’s Security Business Unit is growing at an incredible pace, this is a unique opportunity to influence how this business builds and operates products on a global cloud infrastructure and security platform. Our platform enables customers to rapidly deliver the most reliable security solutions in the market. We are looking for someone with deep experience in cloud technology, with the right balance of technical wisdom and business acumen to help us shape, articulate and deliver our strategy. We operate with a startup mindset, focused on our customers challenges. We build flexible evolvable architecture, concentrated on improving the speed of delivery. We measure ourselves through both metrics and feedback, holding ourselves accountable for customer outcomes. This is an exciting, early stage opportunity to participate directly in shaping our future and building a world class cloud architecture.

Who You’ll Work With

Infrastructure Engineering consists of Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering and Security Engineering - together, we build core Internet infrastructure, security applications and distributed systems at scale. Our environment processes 2,000,000+ requests per second, across 25 data-centers and cloud infrastructure providers.

Who You Are

Your role will be to engage with business leaders and engineers to drive the successful adoption of a cloud-based infrastructure platform. You will help define the strategy, develop our roadmap and ensure the business relevance of our product. You will be the face of the product within our organization. It is up to you to tell the story of our customers. It is up to you to see the opportunities, articulating the value and measuring the success of our development. You will help us understand the priorities, help us make the tradeoffs, and help us see when to change.

We are looking for a self-starter who knows how to drive a product, the technology and the business.

Your responsibility will be to drive a variety of infrastructure engineering projects across multiple teams and business units. You should enjoy a balance of strategic process thinking and “rolling up the sleeves” to resolve tactical issues. You're able to challenge the status quo by demonstrating a willingness to re-invent current processes, and embrace change as a challenge. You should possess ability to make recommendations and inspire change across multiple levels of the organization – from individual engineers & program managers to senior engineering/business leaders. A “self-starter” approach to tackle a range of issues will be critical.

You will be involved in the following activities:

  • Drive cross-team planning, collaboration, and execution

  • Driving highly complex migration and greenfield projects from initiation to completion

  • Support engineering leaders and engineering teams in developing and tracking agile cost, schedule and KPI metrics on a weekly, monthly and quarterly cadence

  • Establish, document, standardize and optimize cross team engineering workflow and delivery operations

Who You Are

  • At least 5yrs of experience in a similar role within a technology focussed organisation

  • A track record of delivering high value IT or infrastructure projects with a rigorous attention to detail

  • Proven ability to drive a culture of open communication, ownership, responsibility and accountability

  • Results driven – hold team members accountable, keep team engaged and on task by working collaboratively

  • Superior communication and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to present ideas and material to partners in the organization

  • Self-confidence to be assertive when taking a position and constructively resolve differences and build consensus among partners

  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills

  • Prior Experience as an Agile process coach is a plus

  • Deep understanding of software development methodologies, values, and procedures

Desired Skills
