What You'll Do

Analyze, discover and extract interesting usage information from the terabytes of traffic data OpenDNS collects every day. This team is full stack and not only gleans data, but presents it in human consumable formats to our customers via unique reports and analysis tools. You will be responsible for build and deployment automation, as well as writing MR jobs, analyzing performance of the cluster, writing code to serve reporting data to the front end, and solving problems which haven't been solved before.

Who You'll Work With

You'll work with our development team, researchers and product management to build new features, threat intelligence systems and improve our existing platform. Our researchers are always innovating, implementing new methods to automate and deliver predictive, proactive protection against tomorrows web-based threats. Your team will bring this intelligence to our product line using industry best practices: ensuring quality, scalability and performance.

Who you are

You're an agile, enthusiastic, and capable engineers with a background in big data technologies, and a passion for delivering performant data analysis.

Minimum requirements for this role:

5 years expertise in at least one of these scripting technologies - python (preferred), shell, ruby

Strong background in Dev-Ops with min. 3 years of hands-on expertise involving AWS (or similar such cloud platforms), Docker / Vagrant or other such container packaging technologies

2-3 years hands-on experience with AWS and/or Ansible scripting, puppet

2-3 years hands-on experience with Hbase/Titan (or Cassandra)

2-3 years operational experience in running Hadoop in productions and hands-on experience with Kafka, Jenkins

Flexible, Self-motivated, Problem solver who can work both individually as well as an effective Team player with excellent attention to detail and great interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)

Demonstrable experience in handling, troubleshooting complex big data infrastructure and network I/O issues in addition to in-depth system knowledge

Nice to haves:

Experience in the DNS layer

Hands-on experience with build engineering

Elastic Search clusters, Nginx, Redis, memcashed, postgres

Coding experience with C/C++ or Java
